What are the Sustainable Development Goals?
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are the successor to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) established in 2001, and the successor to the MDGs set out by Member States in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which was unanimously adopted by the United Nations Summit in September 2015. The MDGs are international goals for a sustainable and better world by 2030, as stated in the report. It consists of 17 goals and 169 targets and promises to "leave no one behind" on the planet.
